You’re here! Hooray. Thank you for joining us at YOGA HAPPY HOUR! It’s a privilege to have you.
We were supposed to launch last week but chose to postpone so as not to distract from and respect melanated voices that need to be heard; amidst the volatility, grievances and loss our global community is facing in the Black Lives Matter movement and COVID-19 Pandemic. With the onset of COVID-19, I had already decided that the world needs an easier and more promising way forward; so, it was a logical and heartfelt decision.
I could not think pre-protests, nor can I now, of a better way to provide mental health support to the collective. Yogic mindfulness can lighten our hearts and soften our minds. It is my hope that YOGA HAPPY HOUR thus serves us all, on a daily basis and especially in the times that we need it the most.
That shared I, your host, took the photo below of our “cheer-me-up” Trader Joe’s tulips mid-April. Aren’t they gorgeous? They were just starting to bloom. As was this hair-brain idea that I can create & host a Blog and Podcast highlighting everyday wellness heroes; namely Yoga Teachers. It simply occurred to me, sitting at home – quarantined, that:
“Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter.” — Izaak Walton
In addition to Yoga teachers, we have other related wellness practitioners lined up for Season 1; a massage therapist and a mindfulness coach and mentor. I am excited to bring for their perspective. In Season 2, yes gratefully we are already planning for a Season 2. I’ll additionally host a Buddhist monk and hopefully my meditation teacher.
Further, kindly note: we are not a commercial endeavor; all of the practices you find herein were & will be recorded voluntarily – for the foreseeable future – as a way to pick up the challenge, give back to the collective.
What you can do in return is like, comment gratitude & share the efforts of everyday wellness heroes love for you to help us grow both individually and collectively. As is our hope of sharing: we want you to grow!
Let the journey begin.
